Building History: Nova Joins Forces for the DNC

We're thrilled to announce that Nova is partnering with McHugh-Powers UC, LLC, one of the key firms selected to prepare Chicago for hosting the Democratic National Convention at the United Center this month. As the general contractor, McHugh-Powers is leading the charge on all physical modifications at the United Center in the lead-up to the event, ensuring every detail meets the highest construction and safety standards for the convention taking place from August 19-22.

Nova is providing project management support on the buildout of the media outlet studios, handling key components like vendor coordination and order management, and ensuring operational excellence. One of the most exciting aspects of our involvement is the transformation of existing suites into temporary broadcast studios. These studios will serve as the hero spaces for media outlets to cover the convention in real-time, capturing moments that will resonate with global audiences.

McHugh is celebrated for its work on some of Chicago’s most iconic spaces and events, and the DNC has recognized their commitment to diversity as a reason they were selected to bring this project to life. As a women-owned consulting firm in a predominantly male industry, we’re honored to support such a significant event in our home city. This initiative is more than just a project; it's a chance to contribute to a momentous occasion that puts Chicago in the national spotlight, and being a part of the infrastructure that supports such a pivotal event is something we’re incredibly proud of.
